Space is becoming an infrastructure layer

Orbit is filling with sensors, compute, and communication faster than anyone can coordinate them. What launch did for access to orbit, software must now do for access to its capability.

Access today is bespoke

Every mission still threads its own path across operators, spacecraft, ground networks, compute environments, and constraints. The coordination work is rebuilt by each team, for each workload.

The missing layer is intelligence

Someone has to understand the whole network: orbital context, data availability, contact opportunities, compute options, constraints, cost. And use that understanding to determine how an objective gets fulfilled. That is the layer Nomos occupies.

Nomos is not a satellite operator, a launch company, a ground-station provider, or a data reseller. The infrastructure can stay heterogeneous. Nomos is the layer that reasons across it, decides how it should work together, and keeps every decision explainable.

In space, distance makes information expensive. Bandwidth is scarce, passes are brief, and raw data is not always what should move. Intelligence determines what matters, where computation should occur, and what deserves to cross the link. The Voyager Golden Record is our reminder of that discipline.

Nomos

Order among the stars

Nomos (νόμος) is Greek for law, custom, and the ordering principle behind how things are arranged. In orbital infrastructure, the hard problem is not raw compute. It is scheduling under constraints: contact windows, downlink budgets, model compatibility, and auditability.

Nomos Orbital is the control plane that imposes that order. One request enters the network. Every candidate node is scored. The winning route is deterministic, hashed, and replayable.

Golden Record

Distilled signal across distance

In 1977, NASA bolted a gold-plated copper phonograph to Voyager. The Golden Record carried the Sounds of Earth: music, greetings, and instructions for playback, encoded so a distant civilization could reconstruct meaning from a single artifact.

Our mark is that disc. Orbital AI faces the same constraint: bandwidth is scarce, passes are brief, and only the answer should cross the link. Nomos routes inference where it belongs and downlinks results, not raw noise.

Orbital infrastructure demands precise coordination under noisy constraints: contact windows, downlink budgets, model compatibility, and audit requirements. The hard part is making every decision legible after the fact.

That discipline shapes the product. Every job emits an append-only event trail and a hashed routing decision. The console is a working control surface, not a marketing shell.
